Quick Start

Get started with FilesDesk in under 5 minutes.

Step 1: Configure AI Provider

FilesDesk needs an AI provider to analyze and rename your files.

  1. Open SettingsAI Provider
  2. Choose your provider (OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, or Local)
  3. Enter your API key
  4. Click Test Connection to verify
Recommended Provider

We recommend OpenAI GPT-4 for the best balance of speed and accuracy.

Step 2: Select Files to Rename

Option A: Drag and Drop

Simply drag files from Explorer into the FilesDesk window.

Option B: Browse

  1. Click Add Files button
  2. Select files from your computer
  3. Click Open

Step 3: Choose a Template

Templates define how your files will be named.

  1. Click the Template dropdown
  2. Select a preset template or create your own
  3. Preview the new names in the file list

Step 4: Rename

  1. Review the proposed new names
  2. Make any manual adjustments if needed
  3. Click Rename All

Your files are now renamed!
