Quick Start
Get started with FilesDesk in under 5 minutes.
Step 1: Configure AI Provider
FilesDesk needs an AI provider to analyze and rename your files.
- Open Settings → AI Provider
- Choose your provider (OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, or Local)
- Enter your API key
- Click Test Connection to verify
Recommended Provider
We recommend OpenAI GPT-4 for the best balance of speed and accuracy.
Step 2: Select Files to Rename
Option A: Drag and Drop
Simply drag files from Explorer into the FilesDesk window.
Option B: Browse
- Click Add Files button
- Select files from your computer
- Click Open
Step 3: Choose a Template
Templates define how your files will be named.
- Click the Template dropdown
- Select a preset template or create your own
- Preview the new names in the file list
Step 4: Rename
- Review the proposed new names
- Make any manual adjustments if needed
- Click Rename All
Your files are now renamed!
