Overview

FilesDesk helps photographers organize thousands of photos efficiently using AI-powered naming and automatic folder structures.

1. Import Folder

Set up a watch folder for your camera imports:

C:\Pictures\Camera Import\

Configure to process files as they're imported from your camera or card reader.

2. Output Structure

3. Template Configuration

{year}/{month-name}/{date}_{event}_{description}

Workflow Steps

  1. Import - Copy files from camera to import folder
  2. Auto-process - Watch folder renames files
  3. Review - Check renamed files in output folder
  4. Edit - Open in Lightroom/Photoshop
  5. Export - Maintain naming through export

Tips for Photographers

  1. Shoot in RAW+JPEG - Process JPEGs for naming, apply to RAW
  2. Use consistent import - Always import to the same folder
  3. Batch by event - Process one event at a time for consistency
  4. Custom templates - Create templates for wedding, portrait, landscape

Integration with Editing Software

Lightroom

  • Import to watched folder
  • FilesDesk renames before Lightroom catalogs
  • Maintain naming through export

Capture One

  • Set import destination to watch folder
  • Use "Apply naming" on export
