Overview
Batch processing allows you to rename large numbers of files at once while maintaining performance and accuracy.
Adding Files
Drag and Drop
Drag an entire folder or multiple file selections into FilesDesk.
Folder Import
- Click Add Folder
- Select a directory
- Choose to include subfolders (optional)
File List
Import a list of file paths from a text file.
Processing Options
Parallel Processing
Control how many files are processed simultaneously:

Preview Mode
Always preview before committing:
- Add files
- Click Preview All
- Review proposed names
- Make adjustments
- Click Apply All
Handling Conflicts
When two files would have the same name:
- Add sequence - Append numbers:
file_001.pdf,file_002.pdf - Add timestamp - Append time:
file_143022.pdf - Skip - Leave original name
- Ask - Prompt for each conflict
Performance Tips
- Process in batches - Split very large jobs (10,000+ files)
- Use SSD storage - Faster read/write speeds
- Close other apps - Free up memory and CPU
- Use local AI - Faster than cloud for large batches
Progress Tracking
Monitor batch progress:
- Files processed / total
- Estimated time remaining
- Success / error counts
- Pause and resume support
Error Handling
If files fail to process:
- Check the error log
- Common issues: permissions, file locks, invalid characters
- Retry failed files
- Export error report for troubleshooting
